Welcome to the church of St Edmund and St George, Hethe

The Church of St Edmund and St George, Hethe is a member of the Shelswell group of parishes.

The name 'hethe' is generally understood to mean 'high place', the reference being made to a ridge that runs by a small stream, the location of which was the original location of the first major dwelling, built in the 15th. century (source - The New Oxfordshire Village Book).
Flora Thompson based her trilogy 'Lark Rise to Candleford' on the area North East of Bicester including the nearby villages of Juniper Hill, Cottisford, Fringford and Hethe
